Platform and Design Built for Scale and Longevity

Challenge

BCMS specializes in the sale of privately owned companies that have sales ranging from $2 million to $200 million, spanning a wide array of industries. With over 20 years of history, BCMS is the UK market leader, and more recently expanded into North America. Their reach has been prolific and today the company engages in pre-negotiation dialogue with more than 50,000 potential acquirers every year, generating over $1.5 billion in offers.

ikonic was tasked with rebuilding their many websites and creating a consistent brand experience across their global presence. The solution needed to showcase their services across all their global websites and still deliver localized marketing content to the region. And, the infrastructure and design needed to last for 5+ years.

Approach

Knowing we had to meet different needs among the BCMS global team, we consolidated the notes from our phone calls and discussions, and used this material to create personas. We then created sets of interactive wireframes for BCMS to test with constituents. The wireframes unearthed potential IA and navigation issues easily resolved prior to coding. Wireframes don't always reveal issues but we're thankful when they do.

We then crafted 3 mood boards to help explore the desired overall look and feel. The discussions that came from the mood board presentation established the essence of the BCMS brand for the web.

Following a detailed brief and comprehensive list of business requirements, ikonic built and customized the Drupal Content Management System (CMS) to enable BCMS to manage their websites and engage potential clients.

We included a powerful grouping system to categorize content within the CMS. It pulls relevant news and deals to users as they browse. To highlight BCMS’s accomplishments and build credibility, we programmed an interactive Success Gallery. Similarly, we built an elegant gallery to showcase the global BCMS team. Clear 'calls to action' and targeted contact forms have led to a substantial increase in contact from potential sellers.

To connect with potential clients and differentiate BCMS from other M&A firms, we worked closely with BCMS to reveal the visual language that reflects their clients and creates a warm, inviting feel.

Result

Our aim was to keep the heavy lifting on the backend and bring simplicity to the end user. The new websites have been an overwhelming success across the organization and have had a significant impact on generating new leads:

  • New leads increased 150%.
  • Site visitors per month increased 38%
  • Average time on site increased 250%
  • Bounce rate decreased 45%
